Spot Treat Facial Keratosis

Keratosis appears in the form of growths on the skin. It can come up in different colors; it can be red, pink, or brown in color. The skin condition normally has a scaly look. It is almost always dry, crusty and rough in appearance. A times, the keratosis can have an itchy effect on the skin. Scratching it is however not the best thing to do. If you scratch it, it will cause more damage and some bleeding may occur, a bleeding keratosis can be more complicated to treat.

With time, keratosis tends to increase in size & can actually spread. Some of the places where the skin condition can appear include the ears, legs, back, the scalp, the face and even the nose & lips. These are the areas of the body that are exposed to the sun more often. Its appearance can also be either raised or flat.

Actinic keratosis can lead to cancer. In fact, its presence on the skin is an indication of cancerous cells. This is why this skin condition must be treated very early so as to avoid the cancerous cells from spreading to other parts of the body. When you notice a new lesion or mark on your skin, you should ask a doctor to check it as soon as possible.

Actinic Keratosis Treatment

The usual method of removing actinic keratosis is by surgical removal – the lesion and surrounding tissue are literally cut out of the skin. In the case of a facial keratosis this is not ideal as the patient is left with a scar. Some topical creams have been specially designed to treat actinic keratosis. The main ingredient in these topical creams is 5-florouracil. This substance has a way of killing the cancerous cells right from within, without damaging the healthy skin. When you apply it on the skin condition, the keratosis will become extremely red and angry but will heal without scarring.

Usually treatment is recommended for a fortnight but in the case of multiple or severe keratoses it can be up to six weeks.

Seborrheic Keratosis Treatment

Seborrheic keratosis is not cancerous. Although it can actually look worse than actinic keratosis, due to the waxy brown growths. Seborrheic keratosis can be treated easily at home by using H2O2. Daily application will dry out the SK resulting in a scab forming which will fall off naturally. You can easily spot treat a facial keratosis by using a q-tip to apply the liquid.

Pigmentation And Sun Exposure

Pigmentation appears on the skin in the form of small brown spots (age spots & liver spots) or as larger patches of hyperpigmentation or melasma. The dark patches can be found on different parts of the body, but it has been discovered that the part of the body mostly affected are those parts that are frequently exposed to the sun. This means that pigmentation will almost always be noticable unless you cover it up or treat it.

Pigmentation has never been linked to cancer. The skin condition may remain on your skin for a very long time and you will never have to bother about its leading to cancer. It had also been discovered that the skin condition comes up more on the elderly. But some cases of pigmentation had also been reported on the younger generation.

Over time, pigmentation has been linked to the sun. It can come up on the skin after the skin had been exposed to the sun extensively. There is no way you can ever separate the two of them. As one grows older, and sun exposure is accumulated over the years, the skin will not be able to perform its protective functions adequately anymore. This then exposes the skin to the UV ray of the sun. The UV rays will be able to penetrate into the skin and cause pigmentation.

Pigmentation forms due to a problem with the overproduction of melanin in the skin. Melanin is responsible for the skin color and it is produced by a cell called melanocytes. The UV ray from the sun and old age tends to reduce the production rate of melanin. When this occurs, the little amount of melanin that is produced will be spread unevenly through the skin and this will come up in the form of spots on the skin referred to as hyperpigmentation.

It is not only the older generation that can experience pigmentation; younger people too can have it. When the younger individuals have sun damage, they may end up with the skin condition. If such an individual gets exposed to the sun, he may end up with pigmentation on the skin.

Pigmentation can also be inherited from the parents. Pigmentation only comes up after the melanocytes have been mutated by the sun and the mutated cells can end up being passed across to the offspring causing them too to have the skin condition.

Age/Liver Spots

Liver spots is a skin condition people seek to get rid of because of its aging effect on the appearance. Due to our lifestyle, many more people are having them. Liver spots are usually associated with age. As you become older, your skin will be finding it more difficult to regenerate & resist the effects of years of accumulated sun exposure and this can lead to hyper pigmentation in the form of brown spots on the skin. It had also been discovered that thin areas on the skin are most affected.

However, it is not only the older folk that can be affected by this skin condition; increasing numbers of younger people under the age of 40 have been reported to have liver spots. If the skin is exposed to the sun for too long without SPF, the individual can end up developing the skin condition. The back of the hand is a naturally thin area and it is also regularly exposed to the sun. This area, along with the face & chest are one of the most common areas to find liver spots.

Liver spots can also be referred to as age spots. Many people think that there is a link between the skin condition and the liver. Medically, there is no link between the two of them. The only reason why the brown spots are called liver spots is that the skin condition has the same color as the liver.

Liver spots are not cancerous in anyway. Leaving them on the skin also does not lead to any negative effects. It should also be noted that they are not contagious. It is even possible for the skin condition to disappear on its own if you do not treat it at all.

In case you do not want to wait for the skin condition to disappear on its own, you can always make use of some common treatment methods to get rid of liver spots. Laser is very helpful in dealing with this skin condition. It is however somewhat expensive in comparison with some other forms of treatment for liver spots. But you can be reassured that laser is known to have fast results.

Topical creams can also be used to deal with age/liver spots. Skin lightening creams have also been found to be very helpful. It is important for the cream to have hydroquinone as the most active ingredient. This will ensure quick resolution of the skin condition.

Removal Of Seborrheic Keratosis At Home With Hydrogen Peroxide

Lots of things are being posted about seborrheic keratosis online, many so called experts have made researches into how to get rid of the skin condition and each of them has his or her story to tell about how to get rid of the thing. It is true that some of the methods that had been posted online about treating seborrheic keratosis are reliable; but it is also true that many of them are far from being useful. This is why you need to be very careful how you go about treating the skin condition and which method you base your treatment upon.

Removal of seborrheic keratosis at home with hydrogen peroxide is one of the cheapest and most effective ways to remove keratoses. In case you have not given it a try, it will not be a bad idea if you decide on that today. With the aid of hydrogen peroxide treatment method, you will never need to go to the hospital to treat the skin condition. This means you will never need to spend so much money on your skin. This method is very easy; considering the fact that it is very easy to obtain hydrogen peroxide over the counter. Some of the procedures you need to follow while treating seborrheic keratosis with hydrogen peroxide will be highlighted below.

Simple procedure

There is no big deal at all to this method of treating the skin condition. Buy any product of hydrogen peroxide and buy cotton balls along in case you do not have at home. Carry out the normal washing of the surface of the seborrheic keratosis with mild soap and water and allow the surface to dry. After this, moisten the cotton ball with clean water and dip it into the hydrogen peroxide. Roll the soaked cotton ball over the seborrheic keratosis until the whole surface is covered.

The skin that surrounds the skin condition should not be touched with the hydrogen peroxide. This is because hydrogen peroxide has a burning effect on ordinary skin. After application of the hydrogen peroxide on the skin condition, you need to cover up the seborrheic keratosis to prevent the solution on it from evaporating. If it is allowed to evaporate, it will not have much effect on the skin condition and the method may not work for you.

You need to consistently carry out the application if you want to get positive result from it. With consistent application, you should be able to get the required result within days.

Seborrheic Keratosis Outbreak

Seborrheic keratosis is primarily a cosmetic skin concern – it does not lead to cancer at all. If you are already having the fear of getting cancer out of the skin condition, you can lay that fear to rest immediately. In appearance, it looks very annoying. It can make the skin look rather ugly as it forms large brown growths. This is the reason many people search for seborrheic keratosis treatments as soon as they begin to appear on the body.

The appearance of seborrheic keratosis varies. They can sometimes grow very large and there are times they can be small and inconspicuous in size. Keratoses can be referred to as barnacles of old age or senile warts – referencing the fact that they mainly affect the older generation. In appearance, the seborrheic keratosis affects only the surface of the skin. The attachment is made through its center, while the edges remain unattached to the skin. The skin condition does not go deep into the skin at all; it only grows on the surface of the skin which makes it easy to remove a seborrheic keratosis without scarring.

In appearance, the skin condition is often described as looking like a cauliflower, or like a stuck on lump of brown wax. It may grow with a pit in the middle and it usually has a rough surface as it grows older on the skin. In appearance, it can looks like warts, but it does not contain the HPV virus, which is the distinguishing characteristic of the warts, and keratoses are not contagious. The rough surface appearance is however not a normal characteristic. There are times that the skin condition will come with smooth surface.

At a younger age, the skin condition does not itch. But as the bearer gets older, some itching may be experienced. The itching can be so frustrating to the extent that any affected person may be forced to scratch it. When you do this, the skin condition will get irritated. Bleeding may occur and the whole thing will get more complicated.

When you have a seborrheic keratosis outbreak – meaning many keratoses forming at the same time there may be a medical reason. You may decide to leave it alone; especially if it is not present on conspicuous parts of the skin. It is true that the skin condition may get larger, but it will never have any negative medical effect on your skin.

One of the reasons why many people want to get rid of seborrheic keratosis is because of its itchy nature. An itchy seborrheic keratosis can make it difficult for you to put on clothing and jewelry; these will always irritate it and cause even more itching.

You can use hydrogen peroxide to treat a seborrheic keratosis outbreak on your skin. The H2O2 will dry out the keratoses forming a scab which will fall off naturally.

Is Skin Pigmentation Hereditary?

Skin pigmentation is a long standing skin condition. It had been in occurrence for so long now. Many individuals out there are suffering from it and many more stand a very good chance of ending up with the skin condition for life. Pigmentation is more common in women than men, this might be because of hormones or because many women spend their holidays sunbathing. As one gets older, the chances of having it tend to increase as this is when people begin to have liver spots. It is also very possible for the younger generations to have it in the form of melasma. This means that there may not be any age limit to those who can end up with this skin condition. There have been several questions on whether or not pigmentation is hereditary. Some persons having it are concerned about the possibility of their kids too ending up with it. This simple write up will try to look into the issue of genetic pigmentation and provide a helpful answer to it.

Skin pigmentation is originally caused by the UV rays from the sun. Normally, the skins natural protection is able to resist the UV rays, but as the individuals grow older, the immunity of the body will reduce. This will make it possible for the years of accumulated sun exposure to take its toll the skin. When this happens, the sun will cause some genetic mutation of the genes that are responsible for the formation of the skin pigment; melanin. This genetic mutation can also occur on skins of individuals that are having light skin naturally due to reduction in melanin content on such skins. The genetic mutation experienced in such individuals can be passed across to their offspring and the offspring too will end up with skin pigmentation. In individuals with light skin, the genetic situation responsible for reduced melanin will prevail in their children and this will make it possible for the offspring to have the skin condition during their lifetime. If you want a straight answer to the question; is skin pigmentation is hereditary? The answer in some cases is yes. But this does not mean that it too can’t be brought under control. You need to first find out the cause of pigmentation before it can be treated correctly.

It is however important to note that it is not all cases of skin pigmentation that can be inherited by the children of the affected individuals. There are some very mild ones that may not reoccur in the children of affected individuals.

Is There A Cure For Liver Spots?

Many people are having liver spots out there today and you are not alone in wondering if there can be any cure for liver spots at all. You need to understand that there are several ways to cure liver spots. The methods are so effective to the extent that they will help to get rid of liver spots in a matter of days if you correctly apply them.

While this may be true, it is important to note that there may not be any reason to seek for a cure for liver spots. This is because the skin condition does not have any negative effect whatsoever on your health. You can decide to leave it untreated forever and it will not cause any medical problem.

You may decide to get rid of liver spots for cosmetic reasons. Some of the methods you can try to get rid of the skin condition will be highlighted below.

Laser Treatment

Laser consists of rays of light with equal wavelength. The beams are targeted on the liver spot to get rid of it by fragmenting the pigmentation so that the body can break it down. Laser can penetrate into the skin and the skin condition will fade away giving effective results. You do not need more than a couple of laser treatments to get rid of liver spots. Laser is effective at treating liver spots but it cannot prevent new ones from forming so you must protect your skin by wearing SPF.

Topical Creams

One of the very first treatment methods to be used for treating liver spots is topical creams. Many topical creams can be obtained over the counter, while others are prescription only, such as those containing hydroquinone. Topical creams are one of the cheapest methods of treating liver spots. Most of the creams contain bleaching agents that can lighten the skin. These lightening agents will lighten liver spots and give you your normal skin color back. It is always better to use these under the supervision of your doctor while making use of this topical cream. This is because there are different forms with different active ingredients. Your doctor will be able to guide you on any of the lightening agents that will not have any contrary effect on your skin.

Natural Remedies

There are many natural remedies for removing liver spots including apple cider vinegar, lemon juice, onions, & even dandilions. One of the most powerful natural remedies for treating liver spots is hydrogen peroxide. A q-tip dipped in the H2O2 and applied to the liver spot daily will make the area quickly dry out and peel off.

There is no miracle cure for liver spots, once you are prone to them you will always suffer from them, but they can be treated as they appear. Before you can ever expect any of the treatment methods to cure your liver spots, you need to apply them carefully. To prevent liver spots you should try to avoid excessive sun exposure and always wear SPF!

Melanoma Age Spot

An age spot is a very common skin condition. Many adults have them if you look closely. Age spots can appear on any part of the body and are generally known not to have any negative impact health-wise on the affected person. An age spot does not lead to cancer. If you are concerned that a new mark on your skin may be cancerous ask a doctor to take a look for your own peace of mind.

Melanoma is also associated with the sunlight just like an age spot but the difference is that a melanoma leads to cancer. It can spread all over the body if it is left untreated. Before long, it can affect internal organs and it can be fatal if care is not taken. In actual fact, it is the most dangerous form of skin cancer. The possible danger found in this skin condition can however be averted if it is treated quickly before it starts spreading to other parts of the body and to internal organs.

Many individuals are finding it rather difficult to differentiate between an ordinary age spot and a melanoma. This is because the two of them appear in the form of brown spots on the skin. An age spot will have the same size and color & it will not change, but a melanoma tends to increase in size with time. A melanoma spot also has an irregular shape but an age spot has a rather smooth shape. You should also look out for changes in color.

In some cases, melanoma can arise from a pre-existing mole on the skin. A warning sign is that it can become raised over time, or change color. Another distinguishing factor that will help you to identify melanoma is that it can bleed once in a while.

Just like an ordinary age spot, melanoma is also caused by excessive exposure to the sun. However, melanoma does not only affected the older generation, it can affect anyone that exposes him or herself excessively to the UV rays from the sun.

If you have light skin as a person, you stand a greater chance of developing a melanoma, simply because your skin has less natural protection from the sun than those with darker skin. A cancerous or malignant melanoma needs urgent medical attention to be removed, follow-up treatment will also be necessary. Some of the treatment methods applied on the melanoma include radiation, surgery and chemotherapy. A biopsy needs to be carried out on the melanoma/age spot to determine its true identity.

If you notice any new marks on your skin, you should always find out what it is from a doctor.

Best Treatment For Keratosis

The below treatments are suggestions for treating seborrheic keratosis.

Leaving seborrheic keratosis untreated will never have any negative effect on your health. But leaving it can also affect your self confidence and you may find it difficult to move freely. This can be the case if the keratosis comes up on your skin at a younger age. There are several things you can do to get rid of this skin condition and regain your normal skin color back.

Liquid nitrogen

This is a very popular method for treating keratosis. This method had been detected to be among the most commonly used methods for this purpose. It can get rid of the skin condition permanently and it will never come back on the skin again in that particular location. You only need to apply the liquid nitrogen on the skin and the freezing effect will work on the keratosis and make it shrink. A shrunken keratosis will surely die after some days. The blood vessels supplying blood to the skin condition will also be frozen by the liquid nitrogen and this will end up resulting to the removal of the keratosis from the skin. This method is regarded as one of the best considering the fact that it can get rid of the skin condition within days of application. You should be able to buy liquid nitrogen over the counter or it can be performed by a doctor. Great care must be taken as if liquid nitrogen contacts the surrounding skin it can cause scarring.

Surgery

This too had been discovered to be one of the best ways to get rid of the skin condition. This is performed in the hospital by a trained surgeon. It involves the surgical removal of the keratosis from the skin before it can get bruised and lead to further complications. This method is also very fast and the whole thing will be completed within a very short period of time. While performing the surgery for removing the keratosis, you will be given local anesthetics to ensure that you do not feel any pain whatsoever while the operation is being performed.
