Skin Liver Spots

The presence of liver spots on your skin should not worry you healthwise. Liver spots are sometimes called age spots and are a result of the skin pigment producing more melanin than usual. Melanin is meant to prevent the ultraviolet light from causing damages to your skin. The more you expose your skin to the sun the more melanin will be produced. The excess melanin produced is deposited on the skin surface and form patches which are brownish in color.

There are several ways one can prevent liver spots from appearing on their skin. Wearing skin protection when going out to the sun is the best you can do for your skin. Wear pullovers that cover most parts of your skin. For the hands you can wear gloves to protect your hands from being exposed to the sun. if you don’t want to wear gloves then you can at least keep your hands in your pocket or rather going into the shade when you feel the sun is too hot.

It is recommended that you apply sunscreen protection on your skin before going out to the sun. You should apply sunscreen protection at least 20 minutes before going out to the sun. The sunscreen protector helps to block the UV radiation of the sun from damaging your skin. Another thing you can do is having a good dietary plan. Make sure that you have plenty of antioxidants in your diet.

The antioxidants provide natural body’s defense mechanism against free radical formation. Remember exposing your skin to the effects of the sun causes free radical formation on your skin. Vegetables, fruits and other plant foods are the richest source of anti-oxidants. Make sure that you strive to include them in your diet. By increasing your antioxidant intake you will be reducing your chances of developing liver spots.
